In Solitude 02:40
IN SOLITUDE Look over there… I’m leaving death, Now selfishly, just to be myself In the path I’ve left so many dead So many faces Just to reach the end It really hurts It wasn’t easy at all To see the beauty of life Be suppressed and denied but it was the only way To see the sun today On my skin I’ve felt What is right And what is wrong So here I am In solitude I stand Didn’t you ask yourselves What my body had to pass? Would you listen to a story About... me?

ONE MORE SOUL A sunray right through a hole Between his right shoulder and his neck Like a bullet trespassing his flesh and bones The fall is grave and deaf The cry is loud The brave soldier takes him and runs away “Krag’s my name and strong was my form A general with badges all over the uniform I’m the One who choose what is best Finding strategies always with no rest” His heart was a rock once But now love has a human shape Spreadin’ pain with all his wits Now he’s realized war is disease Born again on Liberty’s gaze A monster turned into a man that day I asked for pity though I showed none So the girl poured me some grace For the first time no ice in my veins My thoughts were confused By violence and kills My reasons ain’t good anymore (A cruel fate awaits in the shadows A curtain of pride blinded my eyes) His heart had no mercy But now love has a human shape Once He ruled the whole nation Now he knows that war is a plague One More soul fades away He’ll find some rest six feet under The face of the soldier lives in my mind His cold head that long night His ashes now rest in a jar with his tag With that sacrifice some good came out The day he bought his soul back But destiny doesn’t forget and had something prepared His heart was a rock once But now love has a human shape Spreadin’ pain with all his wits Now he knows that war is the hell Solo (V. Città)

THE OLD RIVER “I remember times When a gentle breeze Held our hands Each morning I used to wash our clothes Down at the river With my worn-out mom. And the reflection on our skin Was the mirror for this black sun But during a cold summer We fell out of grace A brutal force suddenly took over us. I can’t sleep anymore My dreams are bloody red They stole my dear ones My humanity from me. The river’s a thin line Now they’ve built a cold grey wall The footstep we used to draw Erased by their tanks, one by one Now our black shapes are empty and dull. I can’t sleep anymore My dreams are bloody red They stole my dear ones My humanity from me I can’t smile anymore The future darkens my mind They stole all our freedom My sanity from me… Slaves they call us Children of dust Free in the past Losin’ trust My mother stands still She keeps walking getting ill Each morning toward our bloodstained old river”

THE SON OF JUAMBALI Long is the struggle for life Also to swallow the rage For a child that soon became a man There’s no gladness, no pleasure, but only pain… That dull day was reaching the end The boy would beg hand in hand But his tears could not buy food All he had was a necklace of wood His little sister cried She would be soon to die So he took his strong decision And went on a suicide mission That day young man blood was spilled Once again childhood was torn and killed A little kid with many dreams in his head Of apples and pears he stole four Time ran out and couldn’t get more But against him a soldier rose And put an end to his useless cause His lymph flowing out of his chest The rage of the people could not be repressed His little sister cried louder And hatred growin’ stronger That day soldier’s blood was spilled Unacceptable for any of us to get killed A man with power upon his back I was there and saw it all The furious crowd breakin’ his bones Avenging that child they chose their fate The President said “Leave only stones!” I was there and heard his words A huge deep hole tore up my soul But clearer was my future deed Although I regret what I did That day humanity was left behind To get a world of insane despair and shame A land that soon will start hatin’ flesh.

BLIND MADNESS And I was there to lead the blight We had to show them our might But a bloodshed was that fight A bloodshed was that fight Desperation leads their minds to organization And the ambush we got into Stroke directly our expectations My unity got surrounded And menaced to surrender Falling there or in a trial by The Eye No difference, now cross the line! No good choice but to kill We had been given our rough bill We would make a hole through that human wall And run to stay alive Surviving or die trying Meanwhile in the country our soldiers were on a ride… We showed no mercy, we did a slaughter women and girls abused with amusement One on my foolish crew lost his conscience Liberty was there to see hate and violence. Then four men were arrested (There was no escape) ‘Cause a rebellion was supposed They used every mean they had To find the truth that was concealed The weakest would be the last The soldiers knew he would talk And if his heart wasn’t strong enough The lash would sing for him The feeble captive made his choice For he couldn’t bear such a high price He talked about a ship that will sail saving who wanna run away No choice but to kill Once we realized what to do Our chase had risked to be overdue Now run to take them back they’re hidin’ along the coast You’ll find them hidin’ on board...

A Prayer 07:10
A PRAYER I'm lookin' at the ground And all I see is dead, is still No answers could be found They brought us chains, we aren't free Oh God! Where are You? I cannot hear Your voice, I feel alone While you're far away from here Your people cry, your people fear Why did You let this doom Pull us into cruelty and agony? The Mighty Eye have won this fight They made us slaves for eternity, And I’ll cry for this... I'm on my pale knees for Ya, My body's aching, my soul is raped I beg You! Just a piece of freedom A peaceful world would be too much Why did You let this doom Pull us into cruelty and agony? I won't see my family Why are You so cruel? Could I believe, I’m not so sure Please gimme a sign! God! Every day another victim Of this sad fate, of this wrong machine Every day another violence Toward another innocent Every day another little girl Like her, abused, raped and used Every day the hardest fight To survive to keep breathin' the air Tell me God how could a man Decide who deserves to live or die? If You want my life I'll give it to You But please turn upside down this tearful fate If necessary I'm here to fight Just be with me I won't be afraid Why did You let this doom Pull us into cruelty and agony? Let me see my people Carry their dreams in peace like it should be Let this rain cleanse our wounds Kissed by your deepest love we’ll carry on I'm on my pale knees for Ya It's just a prayer wish it was real...

Never Again 03:00
In the numbness of my sleep I felt like to weep My mind travelled far for the truth I’m looking for In this mist I met myself I was cold covered with sweat He was holding a mirror And I was staring at it with horror I was drowning in a lake of tears Bodies were the only rafts Then a hangman laughed at me While he pulled the lever to put an end to my family A nightmare I was living only madness I saw light in me was gone and my souls prey of a crow The last image boiled my rage I saw Liberty rust and slowly turned to dust “NO!” A tearing scream I’ve never cried Follow her scent (feeling this moment) Feeling the danger (the last chance) Saving her life is my mission (to love) I’m sure I’ll always (now it is time to) remember that day (remember that day)

A Promise 07:59
A PROMISE After days and days I finally talk to you I've waited for this moment since the day I saw you You maybe hate me for the pain I spread but I can swear now I'm changed, You offered me the key... What do you want from me? You're just a monster! Are you aware of all the slains your Mighty Eye has set? I know your person Don't wanna see your face Let me trail along into this desolation I understand your pain But please forgive me Now I'm here to save your life And shield you from this rain There is a ship not far sailing off tonight they will trick the embargo To save the weakest ones You're a liar! You want a piece of me Like the other soldiers you will kill my purity You’re gonna trust me if you don't wanna die Come with me to Tera and we'll see a new life How could I leave my homeland? Don't you see it's everything to me? Wake up! It's now a wasteland Your friends are gone (My friends are gone) and you stand here alone You're so cruel! I know that But I can't stand to escape from my past All those memories, all emotions buried here and turned into dust... I see your wounds I feel your rage But now you really have to try to turn the page Forced in a cage there is no choice Just take my hands and we'll fight destiny face to face! It's so miserable (Are you conscious now?) I can see the truth... Here I'd be alone So I will follow you (so I will follow you) But please promise me That you’ll come back here (I'll promise you) to avenge my land and make the Eye disappear! They are there, in the dark searching for a safe path. She’s sad for leaving her land but with the hope to come back and change the story He's afraid to die and risk her life, but he doesn't want to seem weak. So they take their road for salvation. There out of a bush a soldier jumps out He tries to harm the frail Liberty. Krag vents his rage against the man Like the thunder after the flash he draws his knife and stabs him. To death. “What Have I done!?” Cold inside me though I'm in hell Robbin' life I died as well. She is safe now It's the only thing worth livin’ We'll begin our new adventure Forget your sins You saved my life today Time is flowing We only have to run

RUN FOR OUR LIVES And here we are in the Big City leaving our dreadful past wish we can find serenity far away from The Mighty Eye We don’t look back we just escape Fear in the sweat and blood on hands A new life for us in Tera a few steps away… Do you hear those shots? They came for us If they caught you couldn’t forgive me! Don’t worry about it the word is “run!” Run for our lives Run for our lives Salvation’s near Our future’s clear Run for our tomorrow The ship is there Don’t lose the way Don’t lose the way Just run and run and run Look there I see a golden eagle right on the sea It must be The Ship Our pass for freedom Perhaps this is the end Again the shots We’d better hide Later we’ll go away with the tide They are so near us come with me Don’t let them ruin the day! Hesitation, reflection Can kill in wrong moments Now it’s time to be shadows, But first they have to… Run for our lives Salvation’s near The future’s clear Run for our tomorrow The Shelter’s there Let’s get in quick The place is sick But it could save us today It will save us today We’re now in safe No guns, no pain A tick, a moment Of sweet silence What do we have to pay For happiness? Life couldn’t be so cynical Liberty in her name, Not in the stale scars she wears A battered angel by his side An endless glance she takes his hands He starts to tremble Feeling this moment the last chance to love I’ve found in you what I’ve never had before Through you I’ll carry a new mind with me Now I can yell everyone “I’m free!” Just close your eyes and hold me heartily Let’s dream of me you and the whole world in peace…

LAST CONFRONTATION They can’t believe that It’s really over The final chapter Has come for them But they don’t know that Around the corner The Mighty Eye is here for them Setting a trap Come out and say “Freeze!” Soon after thousands of rapid bullets This nightmare never ends I’m tired I’ve lost my friends Illusion brought me here And now I feel the smell of chill No place to hide No time to pray The only way is to fight them The ruthless soldiers (Everything she’ll say) Lift up the guns (And everything she’ll do) The silence’s broken (Everything will bring us) By a smothered pallid cry (To a smothered pallid cry) The nightmare never ends A bullet in her head No breath she lays down on a stony bed She closed her jet-black eyes To say goodbye To steal my last half-smile She really gave me light To keep the fight But here tonight I’ve lost my guide...
12.
RUN FOR MY LIFE And here I am a shallow body My Liberty in my hands I’m nearly breaking out I’ll reach her No one can feel my grief! A second I realize… I am alive I’m just in time to rush Deceive the soldiers in a while Prepare myself to run… Run for my life Salvation’s near My way’s now clear I’m just in time To sail away To see a new day Go with the tide Soon everyone Won’t have much to run At last arrived Please close the door They’ll shoot and kill I’ll come back I will Just to let people be free

about

“Born as Slaves - We die free” is our debut album but for us it's like a son.

The album, a 12-track concept, deals with a not simple and unfortunately very current theme: war. The events involve two characters, Krag (G. Macaione) and Liberty (F. Polizzano), and a Narrator (V. Città) who accompanies the listener in the desperate search for the salvation of the protagonists, until an unexpected ending that knows how to surprise.
